No respect for politician’s staff

Dear Staff of Congressman Lewis:

I’m disappointed towards your September 23, 2008 response letter to me. The letter says nothing about my complaints towards Loma Linda, Veterans hospital. The letter is a speech about Veterans suicide and doesn’t deal with my facts in my complaints about Loma Linda. Loma Linda VA hospital is in Congressman Lewis’s district and only a short 10-minute drive away from his Redlands Office. Your letter appears to be nothing but a face saving for the Congressman at the expense of us Veterans.

On September 29th I called and complained about the staff letters lack of interest towards Loma Linda VA hospital but your staff member “Tom” seemed unconcerned.

Summation of Congressman Lewis’s staff letter:
Thank you for contacting me regarding our concerns with suicide amongst our nation’s veterans. I appreciate your thoughts on the issue and the opportunity to respond.

Veterans have a number of risk factors that increase their chance of attempting suicide. These risk factors include combat exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health problems, traumatic brain injury (TBI), poor social support structures, and access to lethal means. The true incidence of suicide among veterans is not known but both Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have taken the issue of suicide amongst veterans very seriously. End of summation.

The rest of the 2-page letter goes on about self-serving statements regarding Congress and the VA but doesn’t refer to my Loma Linda grievance.

Point being, this is my attempt to show why the citizens have no respect for politicians.
